Laverne Sesslerlaverne

Senior, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University

Project: Engineering education, Experimental weighing lysimeter design, OnCenter green roof

Juwairiah Ahmad

BS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University

Project: Modeling heat transfer through green roof layersJB

Juwairiah is currently working on her MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Sustainable Engineering at Syracuse University. Juwairiah’s research studied temperature profiles within and heat flux across the roofing system of the green-roof situated at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center in downtown Syracuse, New York.

Jeff Minnich

BS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University

Jeff earned a BS degree in Environmental Engineering at the L.C. Smith College of Engineering at Syracuse University. He assisted in research on urban water management and chemistry.

Zhi Cui

MS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University20121121_160212

Zhi graduated with an MS in Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University in 2014. She previously obtained a BS in Environmental Engineering from Dalian Maritime University, China. Zhi analyzed temperature data from the OnCenter green roof to characterize the thermal properties of the roof.

Joey graduated from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Syracuse University in Spring 2014.  Joey will start training for Teach for America over the summer and share his passion for education by teaching STEM fields in high need schools.  During his work with our group Joey has worked to develop an experimental lysimeter to  measure evapotranspiration on the OnCenter green roof.  jpdistef@syr.edu

Rich Murray

BS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University

Rich graduated from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Syracuse University in 2014.  He will begin graduate school in the Fall 2014 at Georgia Tech.  During his work with our research group, Rich has been involved with our green roof research, calibrating soil moisture sensors for green roof media and low-range flows for electromagnetic flowmeters, and installing other sensors. Rich also played rugby for SU during his undergraduate studies.

Janique Cheesman

BS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Syracuse University2691031

Janique graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in environmental engineering in 2012. She continued her studies at Villanova University in the fall of 2012 to pursue a M.S. in Sustainable Engineering. During the 2011-2012 academic year, Janique was mentored by Professor Davidson as part of the McNair Scholars program. Along with Professor Davidson and Carli Flynn, she worked on research that involved identifying misconceptions of science and engineering principles by engineering students.
